I joined the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as an Assistant Professor in the Fall 2016. I am building a new Energy-Geosystems group here for the research involvement of undergraduate & graduate students. My group is focusing on identifying multi-physically coupled phenomena in many energy & environmental operations and solving emergent problems from a perspective of geotechnical engineer.

Before joining the research group, I acquired my Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering with a focus on soil stabilization. I have 5 years of experience as a project engineer in the construction field. I’m currently working on the long term soil-structure interactions of integral abutment bridges, alternative methods to prevent the bumps at the bridge approach slab using geosynthetic reinforcement, and advanced implementation of fiber optics sensing from a geotechnical point of view. I like swimming, reading novels and trying traditional food from other cultures.

I am a young man with a strong passion for studying geotechnical engineering and a big ambition to be a professional expert in many technological fields and environmental issues so that I can build my own meaningful life with success and happiness. In my perspective, the greatest thing I can do is living and working with all my passion and enthusiasm every single day.

I am currently working on the enhancement of a geologic repository for radioactive waste by means of developing new engineered barrier materials in a multiscale and multi-physical testing-modeling set up. Almost 2 years in the workforce before pursuing my graduate studies, I have been involved in various geotechnical and pile testing projects as a licensed civil engineer in the Philippines. My previous work experience includes borehole drilling, slope stability analysis, foundation design, dynamic pile load test (PDA), low-strain pile integrity test (PIT), and cross-hole sonic logging test (CSL). During my undergraduate, I have conducted a study focusing on soil stabilization of clayey soils with the use of powdered marine shells. Meanwhile, whenever I have time to spare, some of the leisure activities that I am fond of are local and international traveling, playing volleyball with friends, eating food from different cuisines, and watching movies in any genre.
